Put Your Custom Corrugated Boxes to Work

Plain Corrugated Boxes Are a Wasted Opportunity

Adding a printed message to custom corrugated boxes is a highly effective and economical way to improve brand awareness and increase customer satisfaction. For large runs and sometimes even small runs, the additional cost of printing is marginal. Creating artwork and manufacturing printing plates, a one-time cost, are also extremely affordable, especially when compared to other forms of branding and labeling.

To begin, consider adding a company logo and branding message to one panel or opposite panels of your shipping boxes. Keep in mind that your message will be seen not only by your customer, but perhaps by many others as the boxes travel down the distribution stream. Beyond this obvious box printing strategy, there are many other options to consider.

Product Identification. Your internal product identification system may or may not make sense to the customer who is receiving, storing, and picking your shipments. Putting product identification information in a form that is clear to the customer will most definitely strengthen the customer relationship. Of course labeling is a popular approach, but in many applications, printing on the boxes themselves proves to be more efficient and economical. For instance, simply color coding boxes with a different ink for a given product may be sufficient to meet your customers’ needs.

Special Instructions. These messages typically include -

  • Warning
  • Open with Care
  • Fragile
  • This End Up
  • Customized Messages

Printing directly on the box can offer advantages over labels.

  • Labels can come off, but a printed box panel cannot.
  • Labels require labor when applied manually.
  • Labels require equipment and maintenance when applied automatically.
  • Labels require an investment in additional packaging materials.
  • Labels do not present as clean and polished a look as a printed box panel.

Bilingual Messaging. Depending on where your customers are located and how boxes are handled, branding product identification, and special instruction messages should appear in two or even three languages. Providing that “something extra” is usually appreciated greatly.
