- Large Retailers. Wal Mart and others have pushed their suppliers aggressively to reduce packaging materials.
- Sustainable Packaging. Trays eliminate two-thirds of the material used to make a comparable corrugated box – or more. This source reduction has a major positive environmental impact.
- Cost. Generally, the combined cost of a tray and overwrap is less than that of a comparable corrugated container.
- Visibility. Making products visible for inspection and to consumers carries a variety of quality control and marketing advantages.
- Productivity. If boxes are being packed manually or semi-automatically, fully automated tray forming and packing automation will greatly increase throughput. Productivity gains can be realized even when box erecting and sealing are fully automated.
