Hasbro is starting a new sustainable packaging initiative for their toys.

Hasbro Inc., a leading toy manufacturer known for big-name brands such as My Little Pony and Play-Doh, is starting a new sustainable packaging initiative. The company is working to improve its product-to-packaging ratios, which will help reduce the amount of packaging material and reduce the fuel and cost required for shipping.

Redesigned packages will include improved boxes and blister packs. In addition to reducing the size of these packages, Hasbro’s sustainable efforts have included phasing out PVC in pack

aging, eliminating wire ties and replacing them with paper rattan or a bamboo mix, increasing recycled materials, and sourcing paper responsibly.

In today’s environmentally-conscious market, companies big and small across the globe are finding new ways to reduce their carbon footprint and save money by redesigning their packaging. Even just a small change can have a big impact – the My Little Pony assortment pack for 2013 is expected to reduce shipping container size by 20%, according to Environmental Leader.
